Scottburgh Bowling Club has recently celebrated turning 80 years old, and so it must be among one of the oldest Bowling Clubs in South Africa. Any sports Club with a long history should have many established “traditions”, and it is not surprisingly that we like to be remembered as one of the friendly Clubs in the country. The “Rainbow” reference of South Africa certainly applies to the local environment of the Club, with the multitude of colours in the lush vegetation that surround the greens, with the deep blue of the Indian Ocean in the background. The Club is host to a number of large Bowling Tournaments which have been a part of the South African bowling calendar for many years past, and Scottburgh greens are renowned for being amongst the best in the entire country. We are currently slipping into winter and the daily maximum temperature is now just dropping below 20°C, which is idea weather for bowling and just right for overseas visitors. The village of Scottburgh is ideally situated for a number of sports, and we have on our ‘doorstep’ some of the better Bowling greens and Golf courses in the Country. With plenty to see and experience within short journeys from a Scottburgh ‘base-camp’ you can enjoy historical battle-field sites, game viewing trips, wilderness walking trails or the big City bustle of a very different cultural centre. Our little corner of this great and beautiful land, this ‘world in one country’ awaits the pleasure of your company. One thing is an absolute certainty; it will be a great pleasure for Scottburgh Bowling Club to welcome and host overseas visitors and holiday makers.
